Adjustment of car rearview mirrors and ergonomics design
Sep 22,2025
The installation position and adjustment method of rearview mirrors embody principles of ergonomics. The interior rearview mirror is installed at the top center of the windshield, at a height level with the driver's line of sight, facilitating observation without obstructing the main view ahead. The installation angle of the exterior rearview mirror has been carefully tested, with a range of horizontal distances and vertical inclinations between the mirror surface and the driver's eyes, ensuring that the driver can catch a glimpse of the scene with their peripheral vision. In terms of adjustment, modern vehicles are often equipped with electric adjustment functions. The angle of the exterior rearview mirror can be easily adjusted up and down and left and right using a knob on the inside of the door, following the principle of "horizontal first, then vertical". Horizontal adjustment ensures that 1/4 of the side of the vehicle body can be seen, while vertical adjustment places the horizon line slightly above the center of the mirror surface. Some models also feature memory adjustment functions, which can store multiple sets of personalized adjustment data, allowing different drivers to restore their exclusive view with one click.
